A Mom Approved Mickey Waffle Maker Review
One of my favorite ways to bring home a little Disney magic is with Mickey waffles! There are a few different Mickey waffle makers out there, and I’ve owned them all. In order to help you choose the right one for your family, I’ve done a Mom Approved Mickey Waffle Maker Review!
Currently, we own two different Mickey Waffle makers – a full size Mickey Waffle Maker and a Mini Mickey Waffle Maker.
Why two? They make drastically different waffles.
First up, the full size Mickey waffle maker review:
Made by Select Brands and available on Amazon for about $30, it comes in 2 colors: Stainless and a graphical Red/Black, but makes the exact same “waffle.”
Why is waffle is quotes? Well, I wouldn’t say its a waffle, but a pancake. The outside is crispier than a pancake, but the inside is all pancake no matter the recipe-I’ve tried about five different ones. My kids are pancake lovers, so this is a winner.
I have owned two of these, as I accidentally ruined the first one trying to clean it while it was hot, and all the non-stick coating came off. It makes a fun, yummy pancake. If you go in knowing is not a $100 Sur La Table waffle maker, and do not expect high quality construction you will not be disappointed.
I love this waffle maker and so do the kids, but a few things to note:
- The outside of the unit gets pretty hot, be careful around little fingers.
- The automatic “ready light” never seems to work – so I have to watch it manually and take peeks. It’s cheap, but it’s Mickey so I do it.
- Clean with a damp towel AFTER it has cooled – or you will rub the non stick coating off and it will be garbage.
- When this one breaks, I will absolutely be purchasing it again.
Next up, the Mini Mickey Waffle Maker Review:
Also by Select Brands and available on Amazon for under $20. Right now the only color offered for this waffle maker is black. The Mini Mickey Waffle Maker actually makes four mini Mickey waffles at a time.
This waffle maker makes a Mickey Waffle very close to the texture of the waffles available in the park. I have tried multiple waffle recipes in this waffle maker as well and they have had a similar results- a crunchy waffle reminiscent of the ones foud at the parks on the table service buffets and on the kid’s bounty platters in quick service locations.
I love this waffle maker and so do the kids, but a few things to note:
- This waffle maker can make waffles “on a stick” if you have the little paper straws. I don’t bother, my kids like to use their fingers.
- The outside of the unit also gets pretty hot, be careful around little fingers.
- The automatic “ready light” works a little better than the other one, but I still don’t trust it. But it’s cheap, it’s Mickey.
- You must be accurate with the amount of batter you add, or you will have a huge mess. Read the instructions.
- When this one breaks, I will absolutely be purchasing it again.
Variations we have done:
Pumpkin Mickey Waffles! Try pumpkin or apple butter instead of syrup- you’ll thank me!
Santa Mickey Waffles!
Which Mickey Waffle Maker should you purchase?
Both. Ha! Okay seriously, not everyone is crazy like me.
If you only want to purchase one- if your kid prefers pancakes, go for the full size Mickey Waffle Maker. If you want the waffles like in the park, purchase the Mini Mickey Waffle Maker.
Recipes!
I have used several but have tested with pretty much every Trader Joe’s version and even Bisquick.
In case you want to get a little more like “Home” you can try your hand at this one from Disney:
Happy Waffling!!
